Peek-A-Boo. Spooky.

Peek-A-Boo Gulch is a beautifully sculptured slot
that runs for about half a mile to a wide, sandy wash.
It is a hanging canyon with an arch just inside the opening
Spooky Gulch is the next opening as you hike down Dry Fork.
It offers a great slot canyon hike through
 beautifully eroded Navajo sandstone.
The canyon is deep and it constantly twists and bends,
creating the eerie and haunting nature captured in its name.

These two slot canyons were awesome
I'd never done slot canyons before
But I can promise you there are more in my future
I am a person who likes open spaces.
Breathing room, a way out--you get the idea
Spooky is very narrow at places
I was on the brink of a panic attack in there
But I kept my cool
We started with Peek-A-Boo and looped back down through Spooky
I would recommend this hike to a friend

This is me trying to figure out how to get into the canyon
I love this view of the canyon

...I should not have been the first of the group

Hmm. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Finally--Nailed it.
(It is harder than it looks)

These are my Deacon pants.
They are sweet. They repel water.
They make me feel like a 12 year old boy in church.

This pic was taken in Spooky.
This is also my favorite pic of the trip.

Golden. Cathedral.

The Golden Cathedral is a unique hiking destination within
lower Neon Canyon in the Grand Staircase-Escalante area.
It consists of a great, domed pour-off from upper Neon Canyon,
where the water has dug three separate pothole arches into the overhang. When the sun is overhead,
the daylight shines down through the arches in great, golden columns.

Zak and Emily are really great hikers
And my Josh has an unlimited supply of stamina
It isn't fair
I got my butt kicked down in Escalante
But I loved every second of it
We had to cross a river SEVERAL times
To get to the Golden Cathedral
Other hikers on the trail told us there was
NO way we could cross the river
It was too high and moving too fast
But we crossed it with ease every single time
Here are some pictures of our hike:

I love Southern Utah
Let's. Go. Back.

mer·ri·ment.

cheerful or joyful gaiety; mirth;
hilarity; laughter.

Remember my list of 24 things?

Well I've sort of accomplished another

I wanted to take a Spanish class

To refresh my memory

So my dad and I took a four week class

It was sort of stupid

Naturally I texted Josh during the lectures...

We ended up eating Betos that night.

No kidding.

Breakfast burritos of course.

My husband is funny

I love reading our messages from months ago

They make me happy

Try it

FĂștbol.

a team sport played between two teams of eleven players
 using a spherical ball.
It is widely considered to be the
most popular sport in the world.

Josh and I took Emma and her friend

To the Real game on Saturday

And we loved it

These games are super fun

Because you can eat those cinnamon-sugar almonds

And cheer really loud

And the players are kind of funny looking...

Except for this guy:

Who happens to be my favorite

The game ended in a tie

I hear that is better than a loss though

I just can't wait to go again and again and again!

Cold. Sore.

a vesicular lesion that typically occurs in or around the mouth,
that initially causes pain, burning, or itching
before bursting and crusting over.

Photo from here

Cold sores are life-destroyers
They hurt and itch
And everyone I talk to stares at my lips
Because they are ugly and huge
But the worst part?
I can't kiss Josh
It has been over a week
I want to die
Help. Me.
